Electronic Controller: Electronic desks are the most convenient, reliable, and cost-effective adjustable standing desks available, utilizing motors to move between heights with the push of a button. In general, we don't recommend manual-adjust standing desks—the kind you have to crank the handle to raise or lower—because our tests show they're harder to use, and There may be a load balancing issue. They make us less inclined to switch positions, you know, that's the point. However, we do know that manually adjusting standing desks are a more affordable option that many people are interested in, so we are considering testing these separate guides.

Height Range: Standing desks are usually available in two different frame heights to accommodate different height ranges. We choose tables to test and recommend based on two main frame types: the table that's best for those up to 5'4", which is the average height for women according to survey data, and the table that's best for those over 5'4". Some desk manufacturers charge more for legs that extend the height of the desk, and we noted this surcharge in our comparison.

Warranty: Most fully adjustable and height-programmable desks cost at least $500. This is not a small investment. They should remain stable and functional for a decade or more. Manufacturers should offer fast and reliable support and long-term warranties (5 years or more) for maximum peace of mind in case you need to replace the electronic control box or keypad down the road.

Customization options: The best standing desk makers include a number of customization options that allow you to choose the look and size of your desk. Accessories include desktop bookshelf, monitor shelf, file hook, keyboard drawer, and casters. Our company sells the frame separately from the surrounding accessories so customers can purchase the accessories and install them on the table of their choice.

Buying experience and assembly: Shipment of new desks, delivered to buyers worldwide within a week - barring unusual circumstances such as epidemics and extreme weather. We favor companies that provide excellent after-sales service. Even though assembly is a feat you only have to do once, the table should be easy to put together, at least no harder than assembling IKEA furniture. If you don't want or can't assemble the table yourself, we provide a detailed installation video as a guide, which is a plus. Note that the desk may require the use of a wrench and having another person help you lift the desk after assembly; a typical 48-inch stacked standing desk weighs over 100 pounds.

Other items worth noting but not required:

Accessories and add-ons: Some manufacturers offer accessories for their desks, such as outlet cable guides (some with integrated power plugs), privacy screens or PC stands. We've looked at what tabletop manufacturers have to offer and considered whether the accessories are useful and affordable, and in some cases we've made our own picks (such as monitor arms).

Great weight capacity: Some desks can lift over 350 pounds, which is a sign of strength, but unless you have particularly heavy equipment to lift, it doesn't really matter. Even multiple monitors, a tower computer, big speakers, and typical computer accessories add up to only about 100 pounds. However, the weight of the tabletop itself needs to be taken into consideration: a 60-inch laminate tabletop weighs about 40 pounds, while a quality hardwood tabletop of the same size can weigh more than 90 pounds.
